Going to College...
What should I expect?

Going to college, whether you are leaving home or not, is going to be a big transition. In the first few days you will make new friends, be introduced to brand new professors, and hear words and terms you’ve never heard before! But RELAX! Transitioning to college as a freshman can be scary, but it’s also a lot of fun. This is a chance to start over and to build new relationships with friends, teachers, and yourself.

The next few years ahead will be filled with experiences and opportunities that will help shape you into the person you want to be. So even though you might feel a bit intimidated now, find the courage and confidence from within to embrace the challenge! And don’t worry! When you start to stumble or feel unsure, there are plenty of women who are here to help you get through it!

Down below, there are a list of links that will bring you information about starting college. But first, here are a few matters to keep in mind:

  • High School and College are very different learning environments, and very different life styles. There will be a lot of changes in your life during the first few months. Be patient with yourself.

  • Transitioning from one thing to another can be scary, but don’t be afraid. Embrace what is new, and let go of what is in the past.

  • You may be tempted to sleep in and skip class, or stay up all night eating pizza before a big test. You are making your own decisions now, so be prepared to take responsibility for your actions.

  • You have already survived high school and been accepted to college. You’re already on the right path, so believe in yourself and trust your instincts.
